Hi Kim Thanks for looking up the book for me. I do have that book in Australia - but as you can see by the contact details that I mistakenly left attached to my message yesterday, I am in Samoa. I have tried the alternate names for McMillan - but am pleased that you have reminded me of this again - and will do so again, with Scotlandspeople, It seems that by the time the census (1841 and 1851) were operating, the McMillan name was the preferred name. The birth dates of Archibald and Flora McMillan (nee McIntyre) are interesting - as the dates that I have relate to the 1841 & 1851 census records, the HIES records (noting that there was a cut off age of 60, so miraculously, they were both 69 in 1853) and the death certificates in Australia. I am going to do some more searching on Scotlandspeople for their (ie Archibald McMillan and Flora McIntyre) birth records. Sometimes, I see a clue in a message that someone has listed and when I write, they discount the potentialconnection often because of the location in Mull - but now having some (albeit limited) familiarity with Mull and its villages, I am sure that people moved around and distances were not great. Nonetheless, I am sure that there must be a way to connect the dots between a number of these McMillan families - as the naming pattern in that number of them is the same - suggesting shared antecedents. So I will keep looking, and appreciate you taking the time to look for me. It seems like there are very few people on this list searching for McMillan family members. So this means that the benefits of the synergies of people's effort is not happening for me - but one day ... someone will connect to this list and we will be connected! I live in hope! Thanks again for bothering to respond to my email - I have written so often, with no breakthroughs as yet - so any ideas are most welcome.
