This is quite intriguing. I had always believed that Finlay's wife was a McLean because Christina (his daughter) thought it normal that the ghost of Ewie-with-the-little-head should come to warn her of her approaching death. However a compilation of local history includes an anecdote saying that she was a McInnes and talks about her returning to her parents home when the fire went out. The McInnes farm was very near. The McInnes parents were Dugald and Janet. Perhaps the explanation lies in the fact that Janet was a MacMillan and therefore "family". The 1842 date for emigration could be wrong too. It came from an informal report made in 1937 in which there are some inaccuracies. You might like to know what MacMillans are in the cemetery. Janet McMillan wife of Dugald McInnes Died Dec.25, 1864 Aged 52 years Finlay McMillan Died March 26,1868 Aged 52 years Isabella McDonald wife of Archibald McMillan Died Apr. 14, 1868 Also their daughter Catherine Died Jan. 4, 1879 Aged 53 years Hugh McNeil 1845-1928 His wife Christena MccMillan 1853-1928 There is also an Archibald McMillan in an unmarked grave with no explanation as to age or relationship. I hope this helps, Jean
