Regards Les A historical and statistical report of the Presbyterian church in Canada in connection with the Church of Scotland for the year 1866 38. Eldon....................... The Rev. Neil McDougall, a native of Oban, Argyll - shire, who had been for three years stationed at Indian Lands (95), was inducted 19th June, 1867. In connection with this there is a branch Congregation at Bal- sover, recently erected into a separate charge, but which has not yet succeeded in obtaining a Minister. Mr. Duncan McCrno of this place, in a spirit deserving of the highest commendation, erected at his own expense a beautiful Church, and made it over in a free gift to the Congregation. There is a glebe of lo acres, and the Con- gregation numbers about 70 families

    3. Hi Tricia Thanks for this as well. It paints a great picture for Ian (;-))) It's always nice to have the census info included or I wouldn't have looked for the other Dugald & Janet/Jessie. Yes I'd say that the 2 Neil's aged 12 and 30 are the same person you found in Glasgow. For this Neil McDougall the minster that Les mentioned previously. his parents John McDougall and Christian McCulloch m Jun 10 1828 Kilmore & Kilbride M115234, 0441 from the IGI fische I have at home. So I presume it was Oban where they both hailed from. As Neil McDougall Apr 5 1829 has Kilfinchen for his christening so he might be born in Oban and they moved to KLF where he was christened. I'll include the children and location of their christening from the IGI fische; Neil McDougal Apr 5 1829 Kilfinchen C115424, 1100 parents John McDougal & Cirsty McCulloch Isabel Jul 23 1830 KLF C115424, 1302 I must have found her under a different surname spelling Alexander Sep 7 1832 KLF C115424, 1484 I must have found her under a different surname spelling as well Mary Jul 12 1834 KLF C115424, 1654 listed as John McDugald & Christina McCulloch Dugald May 3 1836 KLF C115424, 1773 parents John MacDougall & Christina McCulloch Dugald Mar 30 1840 Saddell & Skipness C115314, 0540 parents John MacDougall & Christina McCulloch Janet MacDougall Jan 20 1838 Saddell & Skipness C115314, 0483 parents John MacDougall & Christina McCulloch thanks again Ida ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tricia Barnett" <[email protected]> To: "Les Horn" <[email protected]>; <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, November 17, 2011 11:35 AM Subject: Re: [SCT-ISLEOFMULL] McDougall's born in Canada ? 3. Hi Ida I have me doubts about the 1841 Census for Wood Lane, Glasgow St. Peters, being the same family as that in 1881 for Selma Villa, Kilmore & Kilbride ie that of Rev Neil at the Parish House, Coll, in 1881.  According to the 1881 Selma Villa Census Mary (40) would, at most, be 1 yr old and Jessie (38) wouldn'y have even been thought of in 1841. Interestingly in the 1851 Census there is a Neil McDougal (21) a student in the "Normal Institution" - ie part of the Uni - in Edinburgh but from the Isle of Mull.  As you say "Neil McDougall Apr 5 1829 has Kilfinchen for his christening so he might  be born in Oban and they moved to KLF where he was christened." and could therefore be thought of as being from Mull. Isn't Genrealogy/Family History fascinating !!  Of course it would be boring if everything was staright forward. Regards Les
