    2. Margaret Lauder
    3. Hi to all on the list, I have been a member of the mailing list for a while now but this is the first time I have posted anything. My name is Margaret Lauder, I was born in Fife, Scotland and still live there. I have been doing family research since 2008 so fairly new to it. The Mull names I am researching are McKenzie, McNeil, McColl and McDonald My connection with Mull is my ggg grandmother Catherine McKenzie, (daughter of Archibald McKenzie and Flora McNeil) b.19 Dec 1813, Kilninian, d. 11 Nov 1895 at Union Poorhouse, Dervaig Road, Tobermory aged 81. Catherine married William Lauder on 15 December 1835 in Glasgow City. Children: Lauder. William b. 23 Aug 1836, Glasgow, d. 5 Dec 1870 in Tradeston, Glasgow aged 34 Lauder. Archibald Caldwell b. about 1839, Glasgow d. 10 Mar 1882 in General Prison, Perth aged about 43 - no parents or wife recorded on his death certificate but says 'married' I found the family on 1841 Census in a Frigate in Glasgow - Wm Lauder 25 b. Scotland (ships officer) Catherine Lauder 20 b. Scotland William Lauder 4 b. Scotland Arch Lauder 1 b Scotland I presumed from the census that William worked on the ships and it is possible that his work might have taken him to Mull and that is how they met .... it's a possibility? 1851 Census at Church St N Side, Tobermory, Isle of Mull, Argyll - Arch McKenzie 80 head b. Kilninian & Kilmore (crofter) Catherine McKenzie 66 wife b. Kilninian & Kilmore Archc Lander 11 grandson b. Glasgow (scholar) Not sure if Arch Lauder 11 grandson, was visiting or staying and attended school in Mull, he was working in Dunoon as a hotel keeper in 1861 I could not find his parents William and Catherine after 1841 Census, I think William Lauder died 27 Nov 1851, Glasgow but do not know what happened to Catherine until her death in 1895. Catherines parents - Archibald McKenzie (son of Angus McKenzie and Janet McColl) b. 22 Dec 1776 Kilninian, d. 15 Aug 1855, Tobermory aged 78, buried in Kilmore. Resided at Oskamull and had lived in Tobermory area for 60 yrs. Married Flora McNeil 25th Jan 1803 in Kilninian. I would love to hear from anyone with connections or if someone has come across my Catherine McKenzie (or Lauder) between 1841 - 1895. I've enjoyed the roll call postings recently, so thanks to Linda MacCormick Towne for starting the ball rolling. I don't remember seeing one in a long time though so .... here goes. If everyone who reads the list could post who they are, what their interest in Mull is and what surnames they are researching - that would be super. I'll start :) I'm Linda, born in England but living in the States. I've been researching genealogy/family history for a bit over 25 years - I started with my family (USA, Scotland, England, Ireland) and later added my husband's family (USA, Canada, Denmark, France and more to be determined). My father's line is from Isle of Mull and I've been on this list for more than a decade. My direct line Isle of Mull surnames are MacCormick, MacDonald, Black, MacLachlan, Stewart, Fletcher, MacArthur, McKechnie, McMillan, McLean but I also research collaterally.
