Have got myself very confussed trying to work this family out and am hoping someone, with access to the originals of the 1891/1901 census can help me. Malcolm McEachern/McKechnie, son of John McEachern and Catherine McPhie, moved his family to Glasgow some time after 1866. I have some nine children for Malcolm and his wife Ann McNeil. Trying to marry this family in Glasgow I find two more children James born about 1873 Glasgow and Ann born about 1876 Glasgow. Can someone tell me are in fact these children of Malcom and his wife Ann or are they in fact grand children. I have a reference to their daughter Catherine, who married John Simpson in 1885, but can't make out my own note taking. Also Malcolm and Ann's eldest son Archibald. Did he marry three times, again I have references to a Marion McInnes, a Isabella McCormick and a Catherine McInnes. A Catherine deffinitely fits in as their is reference to both a Catherine Simpson and a Catherine McKechnie being in the household as "daughters". I can only presume the latter Catherine to be a daughter in law. As you can see I'm confussed, and probably you all are too after reading this email, Jillian Perth, Western Australia
Further my previous posting, I should also add that none of Malcolm and Ann's descendents have ever managed to trace Ann's origins. The only information we have is on her death certificate as it seems as though she and Malcolm never married. She came from Colonsay. I'd be delighted if anyone can fill in the gaps.
