To add to the interest in statistics I have purchased a birth certificate in which the child is illegitimate and her mother aged 14. This serves to show there is a lot more information that we could draw upon in the certificates we purchase. I would also suggest that its a good idea to go back over the certificates you purchased, which you found were abortive, or the wrong subject person, at the time, because it could be that later down the line of your enquiries, that the information on those abortive certificates is now relevant to your enquiries. I have lately purchased 2 certificates in which the other entries are relevant to my research, viz other births, and marriage. I have yet to find all 3 deaths on the same certificate are relevant, other than the deaths of mother and child several days apart. What does all this say? I've probably purchased a lot of certificates?! ;-) Janet
I agree - I've started inputting the extras from the certificates I purchase into my genealogy database because I have found often enough that they become relevant down the line. I'm in the process of going back and doing that for certificates purchased in the past.
