It is looking like my gggrandfather - Archibald McMIllan - may have been the son of John McMillan and Christina McDonald.  I am currently away from my family history records but as I recall, Archibald was born sometime around 1786.  He died in Victoria Australia in 1871.  His death certificate cited his mother as being Christina McCormack, but so too did his wife's death certificate and after some discussions with Ian Phillips, I am of the view that the parents (As mentioned above) are more likely to be his parents.  When he left Mull for Australia, he travelled with his wife Flora (nee McIntyre) and four children on the New Zealander in 1853.  They were in the 1841 and 1851 census records in Oskamull.  As there has been some entries recently on the list about McDonald family members, I wondered if anyone had come across this family.
