My McInnes family came from Cullen, Banff and took up the Inn at Tobermory. I traced them to Edinburgh before reaching Mull. Other than John McInnes had experience in 42nd Royal Highlanders I dont know why they went to Mull. Hi June, From what I have been reading it appears that Kintra was created in 1790 by the Duke of Argyll as a "model fishing village". Apparently there were 13 cottages built and they were named after the boats associated with them. Do you, or anyone else who may be reading this, know the names of the families that first went there? I know they were to be trained as fishermen. My McInnes family were there in the 1841 census but I was wondering whether they might have been one of the original families. Do you know the names of the cottages? I am trying to get a grasp on what it would have been like living there in the 1830/40's. My family came to Australia in 1848. kindest regards Joy Australia.
Came across this while browsing NZ cemetery records Taruheru Cemetery, Gisborne District Council In loving memory of Mother, Ann McCormick, died 2nd Jan 1922, also our brother Alex McCormick, died 8th Jan 1920, late of Mull Scotland. The burial record states Alex's age as 48 Malcolm ME and PM McCormick
My best guess would be that Ann is Ann McDonald (bapt 18 Feb 1833 to Donald McDonald/Margaret McDonald and married 27 Jan 1859 to her 3rd cousin Donald McCormick. Ida - I don't have an exact date of death for Catherine McArthur (1821) but her youngest child, Margaret, was born 25 Apr 1848. The first child, Robert, from Allan's second marriage was born c1851. So that suggests that Catherine McArthur (1821) either died in childbirth or shortly thereafter and that Allan remarried probably in late 1849 or 1850. Catherine McArthur (1824) died between 1906-1916 and is bured in the Pioneer Cemetery, Priceville. I have come to a knotl in my wife's family tree and would appreciate any help forum members can give me. I am researching the Robertson(1861)-Graham(1863) family of Kilninian. I have found an entry in the OPR Marriages 544/00 0010 0026 Kilninian and Kilmore, of a marriage between a John Cameron and an "unknown" McDugal on June 20, 1771. I think that this couple were the parents of Allan Cameron who had a son Malcom, thus establishing the line back to the present day. Can anyone help me with any more information about this couple? Thank you. On Monday, October 14, 2013 4:35:13 AM, "sct-isleofmull-request@rootsweb.com" <sct-isleofmull-request@rootsweb.com> wrote: PLEASE don't reply with the whole digest attached.
