Good morning list members and Ian of course, glorious day here on the south east coast of Oz. Does anyone know anything about Alexander Campbell of Craignish [1700's] ? I am fairly sure he is be my 5 x great grandfather. I have accessed the records for his children from Scotlands People and there is a big gap between the first 2 listed [my Isobell 1760 and sister Mary] to the last boys c.1776 ??? Can anyone tell me his wife's name as that is not on any of the baptismal records I downloaded ??? Kind regards to all, Irene Kerr
Listers should be aware that there are two Neil McDOUGALLs married to Catherine McDONALDs. As well as the one who went to Ontario, there is another Neil McDOUGALL/McLUCAS who died in Cragaig in 1863 where his CRD shows his parents as Kenneth McDOUGALL, crofter, and Catherine McPhail, both deceased. Informant was his brother John and there was also a sister, Chirsty. In the 1861 census for Cragaig, Neil is aged 29, a widower (late wife Catherine McDONALD), with daughter Mary Ann 6 and son John 4. His brother John is next door aged 37, farmer of 10 acres, with wife Mary 22. Kenneth McLUCAS appears in the 1841 and 1851 censuses, born Ardnamurchan b.c. 1795, with wife Ketty (Catherine) born Kilninian & Kilmore, b.c. 1801. Daughter Chirsty was born c 1822. Just goes to show that life wasn't meant to be easy for genealogists. Jill
Good Day I live near the Rocky Community just north of Durham Ontario. My McCormicks settled here in 1842 and in 1846. My gr gr grandmother Mary McDougald McCormick lived on Lot 13 Section 2 EGR from the time she arrived here from Mull with the rest of our family. That was from 1846 onward. Now getting to the point of this e mail. My gr gr grandmother Mary McDougald McCormick in the 1861 Census was listed on the same lot as I mentioned above, but in this particular census she is listed beside a 15 year old Anne McDougald. The interesting part of this is that one acre of our McCormick land was sold about 1860 to Danial Donahue so he could build a hotel at the corner of our Lot 13 McCormick land. I believe in the 1861 census that Anne McDougald and Mary McDougald were living there at the hotel. I figure Mary was being looked after there or working there, as her son Donald and his family were still living in the homestead just a few yards away. Anne McDougald was probably helping or working in the hotel and living there too. Anne McDougald in 1863 was listed as being married and was 17 years old. I THINK THIS IS THE SAME ANNE MCDOUGALD as the one that I just mentioned. There are other pioneer McDougalds buried in the Rocky Pioneer Cemetary, and I suspect that they are related to my gr gr grandmother Mary McDougald McCormick. Does anyone know of more McDougalds that lived in pioneer times at the Rocky Community that would also be related to my gr gr grandmother Mary McDougald? Hi Elaine, I am interested in the death of Mary McInnis. Her mother Betty Campbell was the daughter of Angus McKinnon and Flory Curry and they lived at Corkamull before they left for Canada. I thought it was my Flory Curry, twin daughter of John Curry and Mary McInnes, but she turns out to be the daughter of Charles Currie and Catherine McInnes. I'm sure they are closely related as they came from Torosay. I'm interested in Hugh McDonald as I have one that disappeared from Mull, born 1839, Regards, Helen Danes, >From: "Elaine Robinson" <elainer@stn.net> >Reply-To: sct-isleofmull@rootsweb.com >To: "MULL" <SCT-ISLEOFMULL-L@rootsweb.com> >Subject: [SCT-ISLEOFMULL] Ontario Deaths >Date: Tue, 30 Jan 2007 00:03:06 -0500 > >Hi >Here are some Mull people who died in Grey County Ontario. It offers 360 degree panoramas of stunning views from the top of Ben More, Mull's highest mountain, to the picturesque harbour front of Tobermory." http://www.tobermory.co.uk/Mull_virtual_tour.htm Best Wishes Les ========================== Lochaber and North Argyll Family History Group - http://tinyurl.com/y6te7n ==========================
