Hi Grant, Sue and Toni- Toni and I had this same discussion a few years ago, when I was having trouble identifying the parents of my g-g-g-grandfather Colin Campbell of Mulindry. Based on the traditional naming sequence, his parents would have been a John and a Margaret, but I found a very good fit with a John and a Janet. I asked the list if the names were ever interchangeable and Toni replied that she had had a problem with a Janet Sinclair and a Margaret Sinclair married to the same man, and finally concluded that they were the same person and that Janet was used interchangebly with Margaret.
