Hello Russ, I came across your inquiry today about the McCuaig children, unfortunately searching my records of Islay, came up with naught. But did you know that William McGilvray, son of Donald McGilvray and Margaret Olilvie, married Catherine Johnston daughter of Donald Johnston and Mary Brown who by the way are my 2nd Great grandparents. I have been researching the Johnston of Tallent for some years now and I would like to know more about the McGilvray family if you would be kind enough to let me have some information on them. Many thanks Basil Johnston South Africa. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Russ McGillivray" <russmcgillivray@hotmail.com> To: <SCT-ISLAY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, June 21, 2006 9:03 PM Subject: [SCT-ISLAY] McCuaig Question > In pursuing my McGilvray lines in the 1851 census I have at Neriby in > Kilmeny: > > Catherine McCuaig (9) and Donald McCuaig (7) living with their > grandparents Donald McGilvray and Margaret Ogilvie. Basil, Great to have another McGilvray connection. I have been pursuing all of the Islay McGilvray lines in a WorldConnect project called McGillivrays of Islay which is at http://wc.rootsweb.com/~islaymcgillivray You will see that I have some information on William and Catherine Johnson and their family, but I am sure there is more you could add. I take William's father Donald back another generation to Donald McGilvray and Catherine McNiven. Please let me know if you have your tree anywhere on the Web as I can hyperlink to it from my WorldConnect database.
