Not sure, Vivien. But one of the Islay Sinclairs I am trying to identify was described as being "currently at Bridge of Johnston". Since the McLachlan that Marg was inquiring about was also of that place, I wonder if there was some connection (probably work-related). Hello Toni, I googled "bridge of Johnston" and it appears it may be the old name for the town of Johnstone. Click on http://www.nls.uk/resources/pdf/74407777.pdf there is a reference to Elderslie between Paisley and Bridge of Johnston and indeed, Elderslie does lie between Paisley and Johnstone.
