    3. Ann, I had a Patrick/Peter McArthur come to the same area in 1738 with the Capt Lauchlan Campbell group. They were promised land in the Argyll Patent, that when they arrived in America they were not given possession of. It was not until 1764 that obtained ownership of much of the promised land. My ancestry in the meantime settled in Columbia County Ancram and West Copake. In O'Callaghan's Early Highland Immigration to New York there is listed a Alexander McArthur n.a. with wife Catharine n.a. and four children John, Donald, Catharine, Florence. Also in Scottish Emigrants to the USA they list Alexander McArthur, died before 1763. From Isaly, Argyllshire arrived New York 22 Sept. 1738 M. Catharine McArthur with issue: 9!) John, (2) Donald, (3) Duncan, (4) Catharine, (5) Florence. Another entry says Alexander McArthur died before 1763. From Islay, Argyllshire. to New York June 1739. M. Catharine Gillies with issue: (1) Duncan, (2) Flora. Another entry Catharine McArthur. From Islay, Argyllshire. To New York. Arrived Sept 22,1738 Wife of Alexander McArthur. The Sleeper Company, if it is still active, has many books on the Patent and Washington County etc. Laurel
