The family is originally from Lancashire and Yorkshire and I have the family in census records from 1901 back to 1851 in these two countys.There is a family story that says that the Dawson's owened the land that was Compulsory Purchased for the building of the BBC Pebble Mill Studios in Birmingham and that the funds recieved from this sale financed the purchase of the farm in Islay.I have yet to find any evidence of this story but how do you end up going from Birmingham to Islay? If either of you know on anyone who is local to Islay and may have local more recent family history knowledge - I would love to get in contact with them. I currently live in Indianna USA although my home is in Mid Wales and so making a trip to Islay to "have a look" is not possible at the moment.
