    3. I am researching John McKay who married Margaret Calder abt 1811 in Kildalton. Children were Janet - Martha - Flora - Dougald - Alex I have downloaded a death cert from S/people showing a John McKay who died Port Charlotte Kilchoman 10 Dec 1861. It describes him as a pauper and widower. Age 75. Parents Hugh McKay and Isabella Johnson. But no name of late wife. Informant was Donald Martin - grandson. Are any of you good people able to confirm this is - or indeed is not - my John McKay. Thanks, John Shaw

    3. Hi John: The Donald Martin was probably born to Neil Martin and Isabella McKay in 1849. According to the birth records John and Margaret did not have a daughter Isabella. John and Margaret (Peggy) were listed in the 1841 census as being 65 and 60 years old and in the 1851 census as being 78 and 76 years old. There was another John McKay 20 Dec 1859 as reported by son Alexander. He was listed as being 88 years old. I think he is more likely your John. 3. Thanks Ted - the 1859 version sounds the better bet. I thought I would just get a copy from Scotlandspeople but it does not seem to be registered. I tried variances in timing (1855-65) and age (80-90) but no luck. County Argyll - all districts. Am I missing something? Any thoughts?
