    3. I'm not doing very well on finding them. I went back to the Ellis Island record to look for more clues. I believe that the husband is F. Head - not D. Head. The letter is written the same way as the "F" in Female for each passenger. So far (using soundex and variation of spellings) In 1900 - I found one family in Manhattan NY and it doesn't match very well - I'll keep looking William F. Head, March 1865, born Scot, imm 1887 Margaret Oct 1861,born Scot (7 of 8 children) Janet July 1885,born Scot Neil April 1887,born Scot Agnes March 1889, born N.J. -----Original Message----- From: Alasdair Heads [mailto:al_heads@yahoo.com] Sent: Friday, March 31, 2006 8:27 AM To: SCT-ISLAY-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [SCT-ISLAY] once they're in america... what's the best way to find more info? It looks like some of my family emigrated to New York about the turn of last century. The Ellis island records have Scotch US citizens Anne Head, Neil, Mary and ?Nin arriving in October 1904 on return tickets. They're going to husband D Head's home at 520 West 51st in New York. My problem is that I don't believe it shound be D Head - how do I check US records (without having to pay massively to ancestry.com?) Y'see I think they could be family of Neil (misspelt as Niel) Head that Ellis Island lists as arriving in 1896 on the Campania aged 30. Sadly Ellis Isle's link to the original manifest is'nt right. Any help appreciated PS in 1904 young Neil has his occupation as Blue printer?? ideas __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
