I'm back in British Columbia after 18 days in Scotland - 5 of which were on Islay. We had wonderful weather and I really enjoyed myself there. Visited the Family History Centre, Islay House, the Round Church in Bowmore, Kildalton Crosses, Port Charlotte, Port Askaig, etc. & stayed in Port Ellen. I am making up a page of photos of Islay and will send the URL for it soon. The oldest gravestone I could find was 1790, but didn't find any McLarty's. However there seemed to be a connection there for me. I had always loved the sea, wind, rocks, etc. When I visited Newfoundland I loved it while my friend shivered! Must be because of my Islay ancestors' blood - earliest I have traced was my 4xGreat Grandfather James, Born 1753. Nancy MacLarty
