Toni - The 1871 census for Wellington North district #35, subdiv C has a family with a Duncan Sinclair 17 yrs. John 40 yrs / Duncan 17 yrs / Mary 15 yrs / John / 13 yrs / Minnie 11 yrs / Catherine 9 yrs. The names and ages of the children are not unlike the family in 1860 Glen Machray, Kildalton. Is it likely that there is a mistake in the census data, and that Duncan was not with the family in Canada? Thanks, Sheila. I was hoping you would respond, since this is your Sinclair connection. No, I think the 1871 census was probably correct, and I was wrong. I didn't have this census info. I can't find any other Duncan Sinclair on Islay who comes anywhere close in age to the Duncan who died in 1879. The Turner and McLellan connections are just a coincidence, I guess. I'll just have to file him as "Unidentified" until I can learn something else about him.
