October 16th Dear Sharon , Thanks for the information. According to notes I have on Islay people Archibald and Catherine also had three children born on Islay, James, John and Catherine.Do you know if this is correct? Did the Donald McLarty in North Dakota say the names of his parents? Isabella McLarty was Donalds' sister . He was my great great grandfather and lived south of Ottawa in a little town called Ste Eugene. He originally settled in Quebec after coming over from Islay but then moved across the river to Ontario. If you have any further leads I would apprecitae them. Now I feel like i'm getting somewhere! Archibald married Catherine MacInnes and immigrated to Quebec/Canada East in the late 1830's-early 1840's. His son Archibald was born in Quebec in 1841 and son Charles was born in Quebec in 1844. Originally this family lived in Bentinck, Grey County Ontario then moved to the next township South, Egremont. From Egremont they moved to North Dakota and can be found on the 1900 & 1910 U.S. Census. On both census there is a Donald McLarty family in Pembina Twshp, North Dakota that I am certain is part of the McLarty family I am tracing. Donald Indicated that he was born in Canada and that his parents were both born in Scotland. I am related to Isabella McLarty who married Dougald McCallum September 1930. Islay, Scotland. My McLarty/McCallum family settled in Bentinck, Grey County, Ontario.
