Celia: I was a volunteer for a short time doing this entry for the LDS church. The church wants to put this information out to the world so that people will have a source that may help them to connect to their ancestors. The information on the LDS site has been submitted by volunteers that have entered in this information, on their own time! This has been a huge effort by all of them. They had thousands upon thousands of Family Group Records to enter. I think they should be thanked. The fact that they did not put their name on the record for who submitted it, might be because it was not their family. Or if the information come off a family spread sheet possibly the person who did it did not put their name on it. I just don’t know. But I think we need to look at it as a SOURCE for giving us leads. And a very important fact: IT IS FREE there are no costs involved. Please note the information that is POSTED on the bottom of their internet site when you’re doing searches. About Ancestral File: Ancestral File is a collection of genealogical information taken from Pedigree Charts and Family Group Records submitted to the Family History Department since 1978. The information has not been verified against any official records. Since the information in Ancestral File is contributed, it is the responsibility of those who use the file to verify its accuracy.
