Sandy, I was excited to see your message as I am sure we must be part of the same family. I am descended from Alexander McMillan and Anne Carmichael of Islay. I visited there last May and my one big recommendation is for you to buy the Ordnance Survey Maps Explorer 353 & 352 at the Celtic House shop in Bowmore before you search for the farms. The farms are clearly marked on these maps and make searching much easier. I am busy here right now with Memorial Day activities but hope to compare our family history soon.
