    3. Hello It has been a while since I was last in touch, but I am still stuck with one of the ancestors. It is Gilbert Boyd, b. 1851;married 22 October 1873 to Susan Stewart at Abbottsford Place, Glasgow. He was a Merchant Seaman and According to family history he "drowned " off Baltimore. I don't know the Name of his ship or where he sailed from. Their last child, also called Susan, was born 1879, at Shore Road, Bowmore, Islay, so I am taking his Death date from ABT 1878 to ABT. 1891. His wife Susan remarried a Daniel McAleese in 1891and they moved to Greenock where she died ABT 1893. In the1881 cencus there is a mention of a Susan (Stewart) Boyd in the Greenock asylum, which could possibly fit if the family had hit on hard Times because of Gilbert's death. His other daughter Mary Elleanor Douglas Boyd, also born 27 April 1874, at Main Street, Bowmore, Islay, became my husband's grandmother. She married Hugh McTavish 31 Dec 1902 at 50 Douglas Street, Blytheswood, Glasgow. A Third child, Gilbert Douglas Boyd, b. 27 February 1877 died 16 April 1880. Another McTavish ancestor was the Rev. Archibald McTavish who married Mary McFarlane, daughter of John McFarlane, who was a Minister at Kilbrandon, Which leads even further back to yet another Rev. Archibald MacTavish (1711-1778), Minister on Mull (Salen and Torosay). He is another brick wall I have been unable to break down. So far I have been unable to find out anything at all about Gilbert's death, No death certificate etc. I am wondering if his drowning would have been Reported in any news papers, which might give me a clue. As always I am Grateful for any help/suggestions which may knock this brick wall down. Regards Kirsten McTavish
