    3. Where in Canada did John Johnson settle? Sue ----- Original Message ----- From: "Norma Callicott" <norcal@telus.net> To: <SCT-ISLAY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, January 06, 2006 6:02 PM Subject: Re: [SCT-ISLAY] Roll Call {Omissions}JOHNSTON I wish I knew as much as you about my decedents. This is what I know about my ggrandfather: John Johnston born about Jan 12, 1833, emigrated to Canada around mid 1850s, may have departed from Greenock after staying with a relative. parents: John Johnston and Agnes Mc... looks like McLoc on a marriage cert, but we always thought that a McLean was in our family. He always said he was from Islay. I know a lot about his after he came to Canada, but it is his Scottish roots that I would like to delve into. Wish I had more. As your Alexander Johnston and Mary Graham did not have a John, perhaps a relative of Alexander did. I have a photo of my ggrandfather which I've put up on the web at: www3.telus.net/artnorma/johnston. We've always wondered if this was taken somewhere on Islay. If you do not have any information that would fit into this, perhaps someone you recommended does. If you don't want to give out their e-mail, feel free to forward this on to anyone!! thks very much for your response. 3. John settled in Erin Township from about 1867 to 1880. He then up and moved his wife, Elizabeth Torrie Hall and children John, Archibald, William & Norman to Sundridge, Parry Sound where he and Elizabeth had children Euphemia, Duncan and Chales. They moved to Lamont Alberta in 1906 with his adult sons. His family farm in Lamont is still in my family.
