Hello Roger, We finally got to Islay and spent a lovely few days there (I would have liked longer but........) We found Duncan McPhail's grave - Lair 15 against the wall - and it also records the deaths of his wife, son and daughters. The reason I'd failed to find his death on scotlandspeople was that he died in Perthshire where I had not expected him to be! Thanks for your help - he seems to have been living at Tarbert after retirement but buried on Islay with his family. Best wishes, Mary
