    3. Firstly, Ted Larson’s BMD databases were created using transcriptions done by Jack Puttenham of Ontario and adding more transcriptions. I believe the census records were undertaken by a group of volunteers, including Helen Blair and Monta Salmon?? There is a possible reason why the databases can no longer be accessed - privacy laws. I suspect the transcriptions were made before UK privacy laws were tightened (as they were in Canada too). I don’t know if this IS the reason but I share it with the list FYI. I contacted ScotlandsPeople and the reply is below. If you wish to publish these records in any form then NRS permission would be required. You would need to provide full details of what you wish to do to allow us to consider your request.
