Agree I know Roger McWee had some transcriptions, but I have been unable to contact him for some time. Does anyone know about him? I had contact with him through these emails back in the early 2000's Candy -----Original Message----- From: sct-islay-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:sct-islay-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Malcolm Campbell via Sent: Thursday, 5 November 2015 6:52 AM To: M. Scotland's People does not own the Copyright to the census. Diane is right. Scotland's People is just trying to protect it's copy. It can not own the census, which should be public property. Likely from microfilms. We'd need to investigate how these were done and see if there were any agreements or any impediments to sharing. However now that ScotlandsPeople has been contacted... These 'rules' have usually nothing to do with privacy. Rather with protecting assets. If you do use Scotland's People you must comply with the company's terms and conditions. Fair enough. However, aren't some or many of these records indexed and available free at FamilySearch? Can some of us compare those transcriptions with what some have saved from the website? Diane M.
