Hi Lynn, I think Sue may have something here in the copyright and privacy laws. It's a shame if these records of Ted's can't continue to be accessed. They are so handy to have. Is there any way that the copies that you have could be put onto Dropbox or something similar from which people could save them to their own files? This would be for mailing list subscribers only. I'm not a tech wiz so I don't know for sure. More than 10 years ago I fortunately downloaded the Birth, Death and Marriage spreadsheets for all parishes as well as the 1841 census and some of the tenants lists. (I need to look to see what else) I'm sure that others probably did the same. So valuable - many a time I would have several spreadsheets open to cross reference information while sorting out my Curries and McNivens. Although I use the LDS website weekly - you cannot filter and sort instantly as you can with the spreadsheets. > > Maybe others have thoughts on this. > > Lynn > > > ------------------------------- > > Quoting the entire text of a previous message in a reply is poor netiquette. Islay Records I'm not sure what all the problems are with accessing the Islay site re Ted Larson's page. I just type in Isle of Islay Index Pages then click on Ted Larsen's site. I've had no problem getting access to the records. No one has pulled or stolen these records. I see no reason why Scotlandspeople would have a problem with this site as a lot of the info is already on Freecen and Free registration etc. It's not as if we are a for profit organization selling this info to make money it is simply a site that has been built up over the years with hard work from many people who have given their time and effort to provide a great genealogy research tool for free. If the Finlaggan site hasn't objected, why would Scotlandspeople!
