I thought I'd let you know that Betsy (McNeill) West of Port Wemyss, Islay, died early this morning (13 March), aged 99 years, in Islay Hospital, Bowmore. She had been a family history mentor to many islanders and visitors from far and wide over the years. I, for one, will sorely miss her friendship, hospitality and extensive knowledge of the history of the families of Islay.
