My great, great grandparents, Neil Currie and Christina McNevin left Kilchoman, Islay, in 1855 heading for Ontario and eventually Michigan. I am visiting Islay in a few months and looking for any possible relatives still on Islay. Dianne Dianne Taeckens diannet@umich.edu

Hi Dianne Your going to Islay is a lovely plan. Hopefully you will find some living relatives there. I have not been there yet. My CURRIEs continue to be illusive. My gr-grandfather Archibald CURRIE came from Islay, but we don't know from what community. His Oro, Ontario 1871 marriage reg, to Flora GALBRAITH, says he was born in 1841 and his parents names were James and Lizzie. The only James and Lizzie that I have found are on the 1841 census at Kilmeny. James was shown as a taylor, which fits what we think we know about him. If any of these folk sound familiar to you I would appreciate hearing from you. cheers Lois ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dianne Taeckens via" <sct-islay@rootsweb.com> To: "Islay" <sct-islay@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, March 27, 2015 4:39:04 PM Subject: [SCT-ISLAY] Currie/McNevin My great, great grandparents, Neil Currie and Christina McNevin left Kilchoman, Islay, in 1855 heading for Ontario and eventually Michigan.
