Hi All I was a member of this mailing list many years ago, but dropped out. My Family interests on Islay are my Murdoch's. I live in NSW Australia and my GGG Grandfather came to Australia in 1851. Reverend John Murdoch (my 5x Great Grandfather) first pastor of the Round Church at Bowmore/Killarrow came to Islay with his wife C(K)atherine and his 11 children. Henrietta, Anne, Katherine, Archibald, Isabel, Elizabeth, Thomas, Charlotte, Patrick, John and Jean. I am descended from Thomas. He was ordained at Fort William in 1769. Not exactly sure where they lived, but know his son Thomas was a Tacksman at Gartbreck and I believe all his children were born there some I have records for. I am not sure of the others, but have recently purchased some credits for Scotlands People and found the marriage of Charlotte to Neil Currie. This is the first time I have paid for credits, and have been putting it off due to costs. I had been in contact with a Roger McWee years ago, but have not been able to find him again, guess his email address has changed and the one I found was returned not known. If anyone has an email address would love have it. He was very helpful to me at the time. Would love to hear from anyone with information on this family. I am led to believe there are no known living Murdoch's still on the Island. I believe John's children were born in Killin and John himself in Callander, but I am yet to prove inconclusively this. I have been trying to find some ordination records which might help with this. Look forward to renewing any contacts and perhaps even some relations Regards Candy Hawkins <http://www.hawkinsfamilyresearch.com/> www.hawkinsfamilyresearch.com Researching: Adams, Armstrong, Bentley, Blackman, Butt, Cox, Ewen, Gange, Green, Hawkins, Holbert, King, Long, McFarlane, McKinnon, McPhee, Mungovan, Murdoch, Norris, Pollock, Ross, Sheean, Sherwood, Spong, Stark, Weakley, Williamson, Wright and many more History remembers only the celebrated Genealogy remembers them all!
