I’ve had a subscription to the Ileach for many years. It’s available electronically giving full colour to the issues which arrive promptly in the inbox. It’s very interesting to read about present day life on Islay. Even the ads are fun....and the editors through the years have made me laugh many times with their pun-ny headlines. If you want to know more: subscriptions@ileach.co.uk Something that might surprise folks is the variety of fresh local produce that is available. In today’s issue, one of the gardens, Islay House Community Garden is advertising “three potato varieties, cabbages, kale, courgettes, runner beans, broad beans, french beans, peas, turnip, sweet corn, cucumbers, aubergine, peppers, hot mix leaves, lettuce, chard, gennel, pak choi, raspberries, blackcurrants, red and white onions, garlic, tomatoes, celery, carrots, plums, apples, cucamelons, sweet peas and more items coming soon”. If you’re staying in a cottage on Islay and preparing some of your own meals, local produce is available. Cheers, Sue Viser
