    3. I think almost every researcher has someone who was magician and disappeared. Our ancestors could be surprisingly mobile. Sometimes that adds fun to the search and other times, pure frustration. One researcher reported that an Islay ancestor went first to New Orleans, then migrated to the Carolinas, then migrated to Nova Scotia, then migrated to now Ontario (and moving twice there!). Whew! She was lucky because she had letters that helped her trace this person but most of us aren’t that fortunate. We’re well aware that many emigrants died at sea on their way to their new homes. Sometimes it was illness and often the ships never arrived at their destination. In Canada, specifically in the Great Lakes area, researchers also need to consider if the missing were lost on the lakes. Another news item today brought this to mind. http://www.ctvnews.ca/sci-tech/explorers-find-2nd-oldest-confirmed-shipwreck-in-great-lakes-1.3031930 I have no idea how you can trace or verify if your lost person met this fate. Perhaps others have experience in this area. Cheers, Sue Visser

    3. Hi fellow researchers, Sue Visser recently wrote about someone (by the name of Carolyn or Caroline) she had met in Owen Sound, Ontario a few years ago, who had a similar migration story to one of our Sinclair ancestors. If that person is on this Islay discussion forum, I'd really like to correspond with her.
