    1. [SCT-ISLAY] Source Book for Islay

    3. Hello. I have heard in several places of a book called "The New Guide to Islay" by John George MacNeil (Glasgow 1900). My reference states that on pages 113-114 there is a list of those who settled Port Ellen in 1821 and where they were from. My ancestor John MacIntyre with son Duncan MacIntyre were there by 1828. Am anxious to see if they are in this book to further my research. My local library has no way of doing inter-library loan as the book is not found in their cooperating libraries. Can anyone tell me how I would go about getting someone to extract or photocopy those two pages for me? Thanks, O. McIntyre Park

    3. Hello You don't say where you are located. The University of Guelph has a copy of this book. http://trellisnew.tug-libraries.on.ca/vwebv/search?searchArg=New+Guide+to+Islay&searchCode=TALL&setLimit=1&recCount=25&searchType=1&page.search.search.button=Search If you ever have to opportunity to visit the area, it would be worthwhile to go the U of G library and make a day of it - they have the largest collection of Scottish literature in the world outside of Scotland ... and a considerable number of them are about Islay. I am going to post the extracts separately so that the subject line reflects the content. Happy Hunting, Sue Visser -----Original Message----- From: O.
