    3. Hi there I have a family of McArthurs/MacArthurs in my family tree. They didn't live at Avinlussa, but at Avonvogie, which must be all of a mile away! My ancestor is Peter MacArthur, born about 1805 in Kildalton, christened 1810, died 1890. He had a sister Hath (?) christened 1812. Their parents appear to have been John MacArthur and Agnes or Nancy MacArthur (?) married 1809 in Bowmore. I have no more information about John. My Peter married Margaret McKay 10th April 1828. In 1841 he is shown as a farmer, but in 1851 he is a Hand Loom Weaver. regards, Seymour

    3. A long shot -- but I am forever looking for a Catherine McArthur, "a native of Kildalton" who gave birth to illegitimate son of Lachlan McCaig of Bowmore in 1831. She would be of about correct age to be your "Hath". Fascinating but no way to prove it!
