Thanks so much for that Roger. The names Gilbert, Peter and Archibald McArthur seem to fit our family. Archibald would have been about 18 in 1811, so I suppose he could have been on the tenant list for Avinlussa. It appears that the Peter Jnr. may have accompanied Arch. to Caledon, Ontario and they bought adjoining farms there in 1820. I haven't been able to find what became of Peter after that though. Too many Peter McArthurs. There seem to have been Peters in Caledon, Erin, Oro, Eldon and Sydenham all around the same time time. Cheers, Don
