This I have deduced as possible as Donald's eldest son could have been John (well John was the eldest son at Catherine's death according to Catherine McEwing's death certificate) and therefore named after Donald's father. What info do you have on father John McCuaig to tie him to "my" Donald McCuaig? I've assumed that son Donald's John emigrated to Canada before 1851 as his brother Archibald had taken over running the Coilabus Farm by 1851 where widow Catherine was living.
