I missed the band wagon as it went past but also want to say how much I've appreciated the sharing and generosity shown by Islay list members. Out of curiosity I checked the archives and Jan 13th last month was the 10th anniversary of my first connection with the list. Little did I know that day that friendships as well as knowledge would grow so much from signing on. What has made this list extra special is the caring and sharing that goes even beyond individuals' personal research. List members spent hours upon hours transcribing any available records and willingly shared them with us all. Steve Gilchrist spent innumerable hours creating the website that has become home for our labours, our photos, our gatherings. Ted Larson admirably stepped into Steve's big shoes when Steve retired and Ted's legacy to us is a website goldmine of transcriptions (including Jack Puttenham's OPR transcriptions). After Ted's unexpected death, Jim Louden stepped up to the plate to keep the list on track. The Islay list has been exceptionally fortunate in the quality of leadership shown by our listmasters. And what about the Gatherings? 10 of them at least in Ontario, British Columbia, Australia and of course Islay! Wonderful memories! Congratulations everyone! And here's to the next 10 years....
