Hi Sue- Thanks for this very interesting post about Laphroaig. I have a distant connection with these folks, indirectly through my Kilbride McDougall's as you would think, but even more directly through my g-g-g-grandmother Ann Johnston, daughter of Alexander Johnston and Mary Graham of Tighcaramagan. Although is is not reflected in the chart in the article, Ann/Nancy married Alexander McDougall of Kilbride. According to the article, Ann/Nancy's brothers Donald and Alexander seem to have started the distillery. Sheila Kronenberger of this list should also be very interested, as she provided most of my Johnston information and ancestry. I see some discrepancies between Sheila's chart and the chart in the article; perhaps she'll want to contact them. Thank you once again for all your very useful contributions to the list! Hope all is well with you- Steffenie > > > Message: 2 > Date: Wed, 16 Jun 2010 20:22:34 -0400 > From: "Sue Visser" <[email protected]> > Subject: [SCT-ISLAY] various families - interesting reading > To: "ROOTSWEB - ISLAY LIST" <[email protected]> > Message-ID: <[email protected]> > Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" > > Invaluable historical reading including particulars about a number of > Islay families including Johnstons, McDougalls, Hunters, Campbells with > others mentioned as well..... > > http://www.laphroaigcollector.com/history.htm > > make sure you click on the underlined sections - original documents will > show. > >
