    3. I am researching McFarlanes from the Kilnave,Kilchoman area. James McFarlane & Ann McArthur and a few children. She was born Mull. I have located them on the 1841/1851/1861 census. I have death certificates for both of them, which give their parents. Any one else researching this family. June

I have since been asked what it is : "The Status Animarium (translates as State of the Souls in English) is a record of church members that was kept by the parish priest. It listed the names of each member of the household, their relationship, birth, death, and sometimes marriage. The entries were kept by household, and since one family often lived in the same house for generations, this one record source could provide generations of information." Hope this helps Best Wishes Les .

    3. In regards to Janet's email below, does anyone know if Alex Torrie (born about 1852), s/o George Torrie & Mary Currie, who married Isabella Currie (born about 1860/61), d/o John Currie and Isabel Smith, on Aug 1, 1917 is part of this family? I am researching the Curries as part of my McDougall / Smith line. The Currie's lived in Mariposa Twp. initially and Isabella is living in Beaverton by 1946 at the time of her sister's death. Christine Harenberg Washington State A friend of mine just brought me a book "Eldon Connections" by Rae Fleming. I don't know if you already have this info. The Torrey's came to Canada from Islay and Mann sometime between 1832 and 1845. George Torrey must have married twice. His first children, John and Anne, were both born in Scotland, in 1830 and 1832 respectively. His children by his second wife Mary (born 1822 and therefore too young to have been the mother of the oldest two children) were all born in Canada, George in 1845, Catherine, 1847, Rober, 1849 and Sandy, 1850... The wife of John Torrey, oldest son of George, was Anne. John and Anne's children were George; Catherine; Mrs. Kenneth Ferguson (their children included John, George and Charlie); Mary, second wife of George Campbell; Isabel; and John, who married Mary Reid (their children were Alda, Jean, Ruth, Donna and Reid). There is also a picture of John and Anne Torrey, and family, John and Isabel. Regards Janet (Ontario)

    3. Hi all, Was just checking Jack Puttenham's OPR transcriptions for John McCorkindale and find that he was actually christened 9 Jan. 1830, not 1832 as I was told. His parents were Donald McCORQUODALE and Isabel MacKAY. The fact that John and Sarah's third son was named Donald McKay McCorkindale confirms that this is the right guy in spite of the age and spelling discrepancies. Cheers, Don
