    3. I could look them up for you on Ancestry. I did do a quick look in the 1910 census (the index is head of household only) and there are 3 D. Head in New York - none born in Scotland. Can you give me a little more info to query on? It looks like some of my family emigrated to New York about the turn of last century. The Ellis island records have Scotch US citizens Anne Head, Neil, Mary and ?Nin arriving in October 1904 on return tickets. They're going to husband D Head's home at 520 West 51st in New York. My problem is that I don't believe it shound be D Head - how do I check US records (without having to pay massively to ancestry.com?) Y'see I think they could be family of Neil (misspelt as Niel) Head that Ellis Island lists as arriving in 1896 on the Campania aged 30. Sadly Ellis Isle's link to the original manifest is'nt right. Thanks Lynn, as I suspected, D Head just did'nt fit, but the family are quite clearly going to an address in NY. I think the head of the household should be another Neil B~1863 in Paisley (son of Neil Head/Eads/Heads born Torabus 1817). However, by 1910 I suspect they may be in Westchester county. What about 1900 data? Since they all seem to have become US citizens by 1904? 2. Dear Marilyn: This is a real longshot- but I wondered if there were any McNabb's- I'm looking for John and probably Catherine- deaths abt 1884 and 1891 - John in his 70's, Catherine in her 80's. They came over to Ontario from Islay abt 1869 and there daughter and her family were in Mariposa in 1881. The daughter's and son's families moved to Chicago and are buried there- but I have not found John & Catherine- I did find some McNabb's in Ontario cemeteries but not the right ones! Thanks!!! 1. Census Records for 1851 Islay
    2. Ted Larson
    3. Hi Lists: I have added the 1851 Islay census to my webpage. All 6 parishes of Islay are done. Please remember that this is a secondary source as it is my interpretation of the data. I did a lot of standardization of names and spelling, never typed Mac (always Mc). There are 12,524 people represented in the various data pages and I know there will be errors. I can furnish .JPG files (for primary source information) for most pages as I made use of my digital camera for 4 of the 6 parishes. Then you can look at the picture and decide if my interpretation of the data is correct. If you have a question about an individual or family give me full information as I have it recorded so that I can look it up on on originals. Please make individual inquiries off list to me directly. The data can be found at HTTP://freepages.family.rootsweb.com/~tlarson/bdm/ and then to the 1851 census page Ted Larson

    2. Paul pinder
    3. I just wanted to post a Quick thank you to all those on the list who assisted me with my Dawson research on Islay,They only lived on the island for a relatively short time and I now have all of the info I needed in order to fill in the blanks of their time there.I have also been given the name of someone who worked on their farm and so I can hopefully get some personal stories and details from there. I am now going to unsubscribe from the list so I can concentrate on my research in other areas. Many thanks again Best Regards Paul

    1. Alexander Currie died 1856 Chinguacousy
    2. Hi everyone: Does anyone have info on Alexander Currie who died about February 29 1856 ( according to his will). It looks like he is buried in Boston Mills Cemetery aged 30 Looks as though he is buried with his parents Alexander Currie died April 16 April 1856 aged 75 years Native of Argyllshire Mary wife of above died 7th March 1848 aged 60 years In his will, he leaves his estate to his sister Sarah Currie wife of Thomas French His Brother Lachlan Currie of Sydeham township and brother Duncan Currie of Chinguacousy. I am trying to establish whether these Curries may be related to Donald Currie ( 1806-1877) who also lived in the Cheltenham district from about 1835 to 1854 ( before moving to Bruce County). I think that Donald owned part ( 29 acres) of Lot 29 Conc 4 in Chinguacousy West and east half 100 acres of Lot 31 Conc. 4 and Alexander Currie Senior owned Lot 26 Conc. 3 in Chinguacousy West ( looks like son Duncan got West 100 acres in April 1851 and son Alex the east 100 acres in April 1852) There was also a note in the Perkins Bull papers that there was an 1837 Directory that listed an Alex Curry at Lot 26 Con 3 and a Donald Curry Lot 12 Conc 5. Does anyone know or have a copy of that directory? Of course I am assuming that Alexander was from Islay like Donald. Any info appreciated. Thanks Anne Goeden
