Ontario did not start requesting parents' names on death registrations until 1907 and even then some jurisdictions used up their old forms first. Ted Larsen's sheets show this couple marrying in Islay in 1825 and having a child in 1826. Does anyone have information on them later in life? Did they stay in Islay? Did they emigrate to Canada? Anything else? Ken Harrison North Vancouver, Canada

With the assistance of Roger McWee, I have created a list of those born in Islay who have died in Ontario. It is transcribed from originals and has been compared against the Islay Cultural Database. Is anyone wishes a copy I will forward it to them. Please note that I have done records that specifically stated place of birth as Islay and not those that only said Argyllshire. In reply to Ken's message as below - to avoid any misunderstandings - Most of the 1851/2 census for Ontario, Canada is available for many counties but sadly not Simcoe. I am not sure about transcriptions for what is available and for the 1861 and 1871 census but actual images of the Canadian census records are available on Ancestry. I purchased Ancestry.ca which includes a great deal of the Ontario records at considerably less than the full deluxe membership.
