    1. [SCT-INV-L] Leek - 1881 census
    2. David McDonald
    3. Thank you to all who responded to my query on Leek, in particular Elizabeth. Now comes the difficult part. The MacDonald family were recorded at Leek in the 1841 & 1851 census a/w some 12 other MacDonald familes and about a dozen non MacDonald families. I've checked the 1881 census but neither they nor anyone else is recorded in Leek. Given the size of the hamlet, and the fact that it still exists today, does this mean that the whole town was missed in the 1881 census? The hamlet is located about 800 yards upstream from the Bridge of Oich and phots from the net show a number of old homes still in the area. Can anyone explain what may have happend in 1881?
