Hello, The 1851 census for Petty (enumeration district 1) lists my gg-grandfather John McIntosh (wife Elizabeth Gollan) as overseer of Gollanfield. An article in the Clan Chattan Journal about the Gollans reads: "The name Gollanfield is that of a well known property, to the east of Inverness, consisting of a manor house and hamlet; obviously called after the family." On a map I have, Gollanfield is placed between Fort George & Croy. Since I don't see myself getting to anywhere in Europe anytime soon, would it be possible for someone from the area to take pictures of the site for me? I imagine by now there might be ruins (or nothing) left of the manor house & hamlet, but I am curious to see what's there. If possible, would anyone be kind enough to send me copies of pictures from books (if any exist) or copies of photos from family collections? My address is: C.A. Quinn 601 Stoneleigh Avenue Unit 612 Carmel, NY 10512 U.S.A. I know I'm asking quite a bit & any help will be greatly appreciated. ===== Peace, love, joy, Cher owayo@yahoo.com __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo!
