    3. Hello Kurt, I have a very tiny link to MATHISONs in Sutherland. The informant for the death of Gordon CLUNAS, aged 84, at Helmsdale, County of Sutherland, on 14 February 1890, was John MATHISON, cousin, Helmsdale. Gordon was the illegitimate son of Captain Gordon Clunes and Roberta SUTHERLAND and the widower of Betsy MCPHERSON. In 1827 the younger Gordon had an illegitimate daughter, Christian, born to Margaret MURRAY in Dornoch. At the time, Gordon was said to be from the parish of Loth. Gordon & Margaret also had an illegitimate son, Alexander, in 1824 (also, I think, in Dornoch). Possibly John MATHISON, cousin of Gordon Clunas, is one of Sandy's family!?!
