I am seeking information on the wife and parents of Alexander McDonald who died at Muchrachd, Glencannich in 1867 aged 83 yrs. His death certificate gives his father's name as Duncan McDonald (Farmer), no mother's name and his wife's name as Helen Fraser. He had a younger sister called Ann (about 6 years younger) who is listed in the 1851 Census aged 55 but doesn't appear in the 1861 Census. Alexander had at least 5 children named Alexander, Janet, Donald, Catherine and Margaret. The family were almost certainly Roman Catholic. I'd also like to know a bit more about Muchrachd (sometimes spelt Muchrach) which looked a very desolate place when I visited the site about 2 years ago. Any help that anyone can provide on this family will be appreciated. I'm also interested in the parents of Duncan Fraser (his death cert. gives their names as Alexander Fraser and Isabella Fraser) who died at Aultvaich in Urray in 1892 aged 89 years. His birthplace is given as 'Stratherrick' in the '71 and '81 Census. Duncan was married to Ann Fraser in Dores on 27 Jan. 1827 and they had 8 children - 7 of them born in the parish of Kilmorack. It's not known for sure whether Duncan had any siblings altho' it was said that he had a brother called Alexander. Again, any help here would be appreciated. Don Fraser (In the Forest of Dean).
