Does anyone have an explanation for this? > Kind regards > Careen ----------------------------------- Hi Careen, Strange, might be a superstition. Did your sister mean.... lying on the stone or embedded in the stone. If embedded, I would think that someone overseas had paid for new stones, for relatives, since you say NEW Churchyard at Kilomre. Time to post my message about a McDONALD buried in the OLD Churchyard? Not really sure about that, as it doesn't say 'Churchyard' on the certificate and as I have no knowledge of the district I suppose it could be anywhere around KILMORE. I think this is the DUNCAN McDONALD who married ANN McDONALD, just based on what I have seen on the IGI. As far as I know, at this time, they are not related to me 1857 Deaths : film 280 254 Inverness, Invernesshire # 174 Duncan McDONALD McDONALD Duncan General Labourer (married) 1857 July Twentythird 2h 30 m pm 36 Tomnahurich Street age 81 P: William McDONALD Crofter (Deceased) Margaret McDonald ms McDONALD (Deceased) Buried : KILMORE, GLEN URQUHART Not Certified* (signed) Samuel McDONALD Son of deceased, Present (very faint on the copy) Registered 1857 July 28th at Inverness James Davidson Registrar * Not Certified under the burial place would mean...... (I think) buried in a small cemetery or burial ground? All the other certificates I have seen with a burial place listed, say 'certified by so and so..... Sexton/Beadle or Undertaker.' Others on this page.... in case anyone needs a copy, which I will gladly send, are : # 172 James McLENNAN no occupation listed (single) 11 SIMPSON Lane Merkinch age 19 P : Finlay McLENNAN Sawyer and Elizabeth McLennan ms HAIN? Burial : Chapel Yard Inverness, John MARTIN Sexton Rgstd by Finlay McLENNAN Father Present. # 173 Alexander CAMERON (married) Farmer 20 TELFORD Rd. age 69? P : Alexander CAMERON Farmer Dcsd. and Helen Cameon ms FRASER Dcsd. Burial : Chapel Yard Inverness John MARTIN Sexton Rgstd by ANN? CAMERON Daughter Present. (very faint on the copy ) I sent for the above whilst trying to sort out the McDONALDs related to me who say (on the census) that they were born at GLEN URQUHART but their baptisms do not appear on the IGI or the OPR Fiche. At the moment my McDONALD search is still as clear as mud! I have a couple of other death certificates supposed to be related to me, which I will type up and post next time, in the hope that someone recognizes them. regards, Maureen Kuzyk
