    3. I am seeking information on the following family: Alexander MENMUIR b. c1821 Marykirk, Kincardine, Scotland m. Jessie RAMSAY 7 Oct 1848 at Kincardine O'Neil, Aberdeen, Scotland. Alexander d. 14 Mar 1890 Kiltarlity, Inverness, Scotland; bd. 17 Mar 1890. Children of Alexander and Jessie, born at Laurencekirk, Kincardine, were: Alexander MENMUIR b. 31 Aug 1849. No mention of him in family records. May have died? Elizabeth MENMUIR b. 7 Feb 1852. Lived close enough to Kiltarlity to arrive for father's funeral by the morning mail the day following his death. Jessie Ann MENMUIR b. 20 Feb 1855. Arrived for the funeral by the midday mail. John Ramsay MENMUIR b. 13 Dec 1857. At 1881 census may have been boarding at Lilieshall Street, Kildonan, Sutherland with Gordon CLUNAS. Was not advised of father's death in 1890 so may have died by then? Mary MENMUIR b. 2 Jun 1860. At home in Kiltarlity for 1881 census. By 1890 had married (Murdo ?) and was living at Tore with at least two chn. Was too ill to attend father's funeral, bore a new daughter on 2 March? William MENMUIR b. 2 Aug 1863.m Lily Hamilton McLEAN (dau of Alexander McLEAN and Elizabeth HAMILTON prev of Lamlash, Arran but later living in or near Beauly, Inv) at Capetown, Sth Africa on 26 Aug 1897. William and Lily finally emigrated to Australia, but that is another story. Margaret MENMUIR b. 2 Jan 1866. 1881 census may have been living as General Serv Domestic with Hugh Munro, Teacher Pub School, and his sister Eliza Munro at 3 Tomnacross, Kiltarlity, Inverness. Later became a school teacher herself and in Aug 1890 was teaching at Leckmelm. And, born at Kiltarlity, Inverness, were: Harriet (Harry) MENMUIR b. 7 Oct 1867. 1881 census at home. Arrived for funeral at 3.45pm the day following father's death. In July 1890 Harry was expecting to go to Glenluce. In May 1892 William visited her at 14 Coates Crescent, Edinburgh. David MENMUIR b. 17 Sep 1869. 1881 census at home. In 1890 was living at Belladrum and was described as being "on duty". Fortunately William, my Grandfather, left a couple of diaries from which a lot of this information has been gleaned.
