USA > Hi Gordon, In NSW you can search on line from 1788 to 1905 for births and to 1945 for marriages and deaths. This cut of point would preclude you from doing this for your ancestor. However you can ask for a search - it costs per each ten year period. Think it's expensive. You can't apply by email but you can by fax, mail or in person as you have to show proof of identity - photocopy of drivers licence or passport for overseas enquiries - and have to give reason for search. I believe you can access registries in other states from the NSW Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages too. I have included the web address below so you can check it out. I am happy to help you from this end if I am able - let me know - but I will be away for a month from 21 August. http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/index.html Good hunting! Thelma Reynolds
