    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/TeC.2ACE/1114.1 Message Board Post: Hi Robert, I can't,unfortunately, help you with the names of Alexander's parents, but hopefully help clear up the Latin! I think that you have probobly got two entries from the Graduate's Book intermingled.I have had a look at a book entitled "Roll of Alumni-University and King's College(Aberdeen) 1596-1860".The entry for Alexander is very brief-"1758-64.Alexander McLean,Skiensis.A.M.". Skiensis as you probobly know,is the Latin for Skye. One of his fellow Classmates had this entry: "Alexander Angus,Aberdonensis,nat.V.D.M.,de Culsalmond,A.M." Aberdonensis is Latin for Aberdeen, and nat.V.D.M. de Culsalmond(natus verbi dei minister)means roughly "born a servant of God out of the parish of Culsalmond".Tullynessle and Botriphnie were the Parishes in Aberdeenshire that Angus subsequently served as Minister. I checked some other books, and as far as I can ascertain,Alexander McLean never Ministered in Scotland upon Graduation. Regards,Chris.
