That was true till a couple of years ago, Dave. But there is a new class of viruses that can exploit weaknesses in some e-mail programs, notably some versions of Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express. Microsoft fixed the problem, but you have to take the initiative up update your own Microsoft programs. If anyone uses these programs you should go to the Microsoft download website and download the updates. Or you should use another program, like Netscape, Eudora, etc. You can find out more about this one by searching the word 'kakworm' in your search engine. I found it quite embarrassing when my e-mails triggered alarm bells wherever I sent them.
